Counter Terrorism Science and Technology Centre

The MOD Counter Terrorism Science & Technology Centre

Stucture and Operation

The Centre operates on behalf of customers across government to identify CT research activities that will provide solutions to their issues. The experts will then draw up research programmes that will facilitate and engage its partner laboratories within government and/or from industry and academia to work together to deliver solutions.

Collaboration Centre

The Centre will operate on similar lines to a Defence Technology Centre (DTC) to allow the best possible collaboration, conducting innovative, cutting-edge research for enhanced UK defence capability. DTCs are recognised as very successful vehicles for the MOD to provide a forum for collaboration between the UK defence industry, small and medium sized enterprises and universities. For more information on DTCs visit http://www.science.mod.uk/pages/dtc.htm.

International Collaboration

Ensuring that all customers benefit from the very best in S&T research, the Centre is the focus for UK CT international research collaboration and aims to strengthen and enhance existing agreements with our coalition partners to assist the global fight against terrorism.

A new way of doing MOD business

As MOD’s thinking evolves on CT, so must the way in which we do business. The Centre is key in establishing new ideas and changing current practises to ensure that solutions are reached quickly and offer best value to the tax payer.

To improve the efficiency and the immediacy of work, the Centre has introduced smarter ways of contracting its partner organisations. It is also exploring new ideas to encourage innovation, for example competitions for ideas and offering prizes for novel CT solutions.
